Playing with macro

Why does moving take so long? We’re almost settled now, apart from several piles of books which have no home until we buy more bookcases, and we’re finally beginning to feel at home.

And I’m loving the ‘breakfast nook’ – the small room off the kitchen which has been commandeered as my studio. The light there is gorgeous for so much of the day. So when friends present me with flowers as a housewarming present, I just have to start playing…

Although that looks like a water droplet on there, sunflowers, it turns out, are rather like ducks’ backs – water just rolls off them. So that little drop up there is actually agave syrup.

New web site is up

It’s taken longer than I thought to get my website up & running. We decided a couple of weeks ago to look for a new place to live, found one surprisingly quickly, and I’ve spent the last week packing and arranging stuff, rather than working. It’s done now though (however, the packing isn’t!); Check out the new look:

We move in just over a week, and I don’t expect to get much work done until after the move – I know where my camera gear is, but I couldn’t tell you where anything else is. The new place though has a really cute (small) ‘breakfast nook’ off the kitchen, with east, south and west facing windows. I’ve already commandeered it as my new studio.

[This image is the first one on the site, & the header on this blog. It was taken in Volcano Village, Hawai'i, during a few seconds lull in the rain. The Ti plant really was that colour.]

Time for a new start

I’m updating my website at the moment, going for a far cleaner look than the old grungy design. It seems the right time to return to photoblogging too, so here we are. I’ll be working on my food photography portfolio once the website is up and running, so expect this blog to be dominated by food for some time to come.
